This Sunday is the best day of the year to go for a run
Event: Sunday 27th September 2015
In August we gave up work.
In la rentrée we said NON to refined sugar.
And on Sunday 27th September, our favourite city is cleansing itself of cars.
Sometimes giving up something you love can lead to new freedoms.
In an effort to combat pollution and do something cool, this Sunday Paris is creating a car-free zone in the midst of the city.
So let’s start with the negative:
What could be worse than the taxi strike? The everything strike. Getting to planned brunch in Marais now seems Uber impossible.
But quickly move onto the positive:
Voilà our suggestion for alternative transportation: put on your legs, and go for a run.
You've been putting it off, but now is the best time to start:
It's the only day the Parisian pedestrian rules. Just picture yourself running wild and free around République: trust us when we tell you the streets are sweeter without smartcars.
The suggested itinerary
From Place de la Concorde, run along la Seine to the east, zig-zagging across bridges between left and right banks. Do a lap around Bastille, up boulevard Beaumarchais and swing left into the Marais. We count 5.5km.
The finishing line
Head towards le Carreau du Temple to the large gathering of (parked) food trucks happening this weekend for Street Food Temple. Skip the lines for the burgers and fuel yourself with gluten-free, Paleo cuisine at Chasseurs Cuilleurs - celebrating your car-free cleanse with food from a truck.
